Sunday service 2020-05-17

17th May 2020:

Welcome to our Online Sunday Service at Llanelwy Community Church.  We welcome too Paul Asbridge who is our speaker today.  Feel free to use this service whenever you want. However, the idea is that, if you can, to start at 10:30 on Sunday. During the service, (after an item) please add a comment on our facebook page to encourage a feeling of togetherness. Or send us a comment or greetings if you’ve done this at another time.

Then, at 11:45 on Sunday, we’ll have a zoom meeting at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82813312027. If you click on this link now, you can download the zoom client (which is free) so you are ready to go, or just use the webpage to join. Or you can dial in using the numbers below. If none of that works for you, please simply ring other people in the congregation or do a messenger-group-chats together (or however you do online chats!) encourage one-another and generally catch up with one another.

Please click on each item and read, or listen to the item, then when you are finished, come back to this page and click on the next item.

Sunday Service 17th May, 2020

Welcome and Call to Worship – Graeme: (click the start arrow below to listen)

Good morning everyone – wherever and whenever you’re listening or reading, it’s a joy to have you with us at Llanelwy this morning – in spirit if not in the building.

I’d like to start our service with one of the best-known of all Psalms – Psalm 121, which reminds us to look to the heavens as we praise and worship, giving thanks to Him who guides our every step – if we’ll only let Him.

I lift up my eyes to the hills—
from where will my help come?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
4 He who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is your keeper;
the LORD is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
8 The LORD will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time on and forevermore.

We continue in sung worship with a short introduction by Rend Collective themselves – I’ll leave it to them.

The Grace – Graeme: (click the start arrow below to listen)

I’ve always found the grace to be one of the loveliest parts of the church service – that moment to look at those around us and pray for and with them, however briefly. It’s one of the things I miss most about our ‘normal’ Sunday services. But, if you’d like to join in saying these well-known words aloud with me, you’d be very welcome – and, rather than saying the closing ‘amen’, I’ll leave it to you to continue in prayer if you wish to – perhaps thinking of those you would normally share a Sunday with, and asking God to bless them, knowing that they’ll be doing the same for you.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all – now, and forever more.

After the service:

If you are able, please join us for ‘post service coffee’ by zoom video conference at
https://zoom.us/j/82813312027 (Meeting ID: 828 1331 2027). 11:45-12:15

Please ring each other and/or message each other to encourage and bless one-another.
