Sunday Service 2020-11-01

Welcome to our Online Sunday Service at Llanelwy Community Church. We welcome and thank Peter Cousins who is leading the service and is our speaker this week.

Feel free to use this service whenever you want. However, the idea is that, if you can, to start at 10:30 on Sunday. Then, at 11:45 on Sunday, we’ll have a zoom meeting at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87287366294. If you click on this link now, you can download the zoom client (which is free) so you are ready to go, or just use the webpage to join. Or you can dial in using the numbers below. If none of that works for you, please simply ring other people in the congregation or do a messenger-group-chats together (or however you do online chats!) encourage one-another and generally catch up with one another.

Please click on each item and read, or listen to the item, then when you are finished, come back to this page and click on the next item.

You should be able to click on the minimised embedded picture (which avoids adverts) and you can then maximise this to fill the screen.  Other links (the green buttons) are also included in case of issues.

Sunday Service 1st November 2020

Today is All Saints Day, so let’s join in this prayer altogether:

O God, You broke down the barriers when you crept in beside us:

For in Jesus . . . the smiling Jesus, the story-telling Jesus, the controversial Jesus the loving and forgiving Jesus, your hands touched all, showing how in Christ, there is no difference between ethnic groups, male and female, or social backgrounds. All are one in Jesus Christ and for this we praise you.

You opened our eyes to see how the hands of the rich were empty and the hearts of the poor were full. You dared to take the widow’s mite, the child’s loaves, the babe at the breast and in these simple things to point out the path to your Kingdom. On our own we would never have discovered that in Christ there is no difference between ethnic groups, male and female, nor social backgrounds. All are one in Jesus Christ and for this we praise you.

You gave us hands to hold: black hands and white hands, African hands and Asian hands, the clasping hands of lovers, and the reluctant hands of those who don’t believe they are worth holding. And when we wanted to shake our fist you still wanted to hold our hand because in Christ there is no difference between ethnic groups, male and female, nor social backgrounds. All are one in Jesus Christ and for this we praise you.

So today in the virtual company of those in our church, the scattered members of our families, the neighbours in our street we ask to love as Jesus loved. Make this time of lockdown and physical distancing be still the moment when heaven and earth merge as one and we in our worship grasp that in Christ there is no difference between ethnic groups, male and female, nor social backgrounds. All are one in Jesus Christ and for this we praise you.

Amen. (adapted from © Wild Goose Resource Group 1999)

(all the music videos today have the words on the screen, so please join in at home if you wish)
