I can hardly believe that Easter is only 3 weeks away, the clocks are going forward and my fruit trees are beginning to flower. I don’t know about you but these first few months of 2014 have flown by almost unnoticed. So often life is so busy that we miss out, Easter provides the perfect time to slow down, sit back and reflect on who we are, where we have come from and where we are going. Just in case you haven’t noticed things have been very busy on the High Street, the building is unrecognisable from what it was previously. As I write this the builders are working very hard preparing the walls for the new kitchen area. We are on course to meet our deadline and re-launch on Saturday 19th April. Some people have asked if the Easter re-launch date is intentional, to which the resounding answer is yes. Easter is the perfect backdrop for us to make a clean start and re-establish ourselves, reflect on our purpose and calling, and walk forward into the exciting future that God has ‘marked out’ for us.
But … Having thought about the pace of which the days seem to tick by, I can’t help but think that the 48 hours being Jesus’ death and resurrection must have have felt like a lifetime for the disciples. The man they had devoted their life to and pinned their hopes on was gone. Good Friday was a dark day, but thank God that Sunday came. With the resurrection came joy, hope, relief, excitement, purpose, expectation, understanding and calling. Easter Weekend is our resurrection day as a church. Building on all that has gone before, we look to our resurrected Saviour and everything finds worth, purpose and meaning. Let’s remember this is all about Jesus because ‘He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church…’ Colossians 1:17-18. It is all about Him, all for Him and all through Him!
